Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr. Ola is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, a member of the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit at the Psychiatry and Addiction Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, and a board member of the Dementia Supportive Initiative in Egypt (DSIE).
She received formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and is currently studying Schema Therapy. She also has informal training in other therapies, such as Interpersonal and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Since her residency and interest were in geriatric psychiatry, Dr. Ola’s M.D topic was “Cognitive Functions and MRI Findings in Late-Onset Depression versus Early-Onset”. She participated in translation and validation of MoCA-B, a highly sensitive cognitive assessment tool for detecting Mild Cognition Impairment (MCI). Additionally, she participated in the translation and cultural adaptation of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy program, an evidence-based program for the management of mild to moderate Dementia.
Dr. Ola has experience in offering complete psychiatric assessments and developing the most suitable management plans. She offers individual and couple psychotherapy sessions.
Dr. Ola offers sessions for the elderly, helping them cope with various life changes to improve their quality of life. She also offers sessions for caregivers, guiding them on how to deal with emotional conflicts and stressors when dealing with their parents. Additionally, she conducts Cognitive assessment sessions for elderly individuals suffering from memory problems or other cognitive impairments, as well as cognitive stimulation sessions. She guides caregivers on how to apply different cognitive stimulation techniques with their care recipients. Dr. Ola also works with individuals struggling with grief and those suffering from chronic disease.
She uses mainly the eclectic integrative approach, which involves customizing and tailoring various techniques to maximize the client's benefit.
Dr. Ola believes that psychotherapy, combined with empathy and validation, offers a new perspective on oneself, opening the door for one’s potential to emerge.
